One Month Anniversary

Foreword:

Shakespeare had his sonnets.... :)

Michelle once pointed out to me that I hadn't given her a romantic card in a while. I immediately resolved to correct this oversight (a woman like her deserves to be showered with reminders of how special she is) but in the meantime it led me to a number of romantic little writings -- Michelle keeps everything I write to her and showed me quite a collection of beautiful cards with my little scribblings of adoration in them.

Only a few of the poems have been approved by Michelle for publication on this site. Here is one of them.

A very strange thing has come over me,
Strange and strong and true,
Simple "coincidence" I don't think it is
That it started when I first met you.

Now my friends all say I seem happy,
And they say that's a very good sign,
'Cause this look in my eyes wasn't in them before
I realized that you are mine.

"Look how your eyes are all sparkle," they tell me,
"And this bounce in your step now as well."
"You must have fallen in love," they exclaim.
And I smile and say "Yes, with Michelle!"

Afterword:

I can clearly remember writing this poem, scribbling messily in my journal, sitting in my Jeep in a SuperValu parking lot after going grocery shopping. There must have been quite a grin on my face as I copied the poem onto a greeting card.

I planned to leave the card on Michelle's doorstep, ring the doorbell, and run. After I did, Michelle called me at home to ask why I hadn't stayed for the thank-you kiss...so I quickly drove back to the city to get it. :)
