A work in steel by Canadian artist Dave Laliberte
|
A Hand and a RoseDave created this life-sized hand and rose in 1994. It is meant to show how strength and power can also be kind and tender. The hand which holds the rose seems even stronger for the weight of the steel it is built from; the piece has a very satisfying heft and when picked up its mass gives an impression of strength. The rose is so lifelike that on first being handed the piece many lift it to their nose to see if it "smells as sweet." |
